Intention Setting Wedding Ideas

Five Intentional
Day-of Wedding Ideas

The best part of planning a wedding (besides marrying the love of your life), is creating a day that’s unique and experiential. A day that truly transcends. You’re building an experience that you’ll never forget.

There’s so many ways to go about planning a true-to-you wedding day. To help you reimagine some day-of happenings, I’d like to offer five ideas that add a layer of intention and interaction:

1. Starter activity

Whether it’s a mimosa brunch, sound bath, a quick yoga/surf sesh, or hike/walk nearby—planning a starter for your wedding day can be a lively way to set the tone for your celebration. Make it personal, sentimental, and relaxing.

2. Pre-ceremony cocktails

Not only does this add a nice buffer for your guests to arrive on time and settle in, but it allows you to enjoy a calm moment to yourselves before saying you I dos. Even just 15 minutes of mingling can break the ice and offer you a private breather.

3. Ceremonial pause

Building in an intentional moment to pause during your ceremony, to look around at all of your guests, and take it all in is such a sweet sentiment. The entire day feels so quick, but especially the ceremony. A premeditated pause will help ground you in the now during such a pinnacle moment.

4. Private timeout

To soak in the “we did it!” feeling, plan for cocktails and appetizers for just the two of you to be tucked away during cocktail hour. This brief one on one time will feel refreshing after having all eyes on you. You can re-join your guests to mingle for a bit or hold off until your grand entrance.

5. Reception interactivity

Dancing is to be expected during your reception, but how ‘bout a little bit of ✨spice✨? Consider adding in a karaoke mic, a limbo competition, cannabis/cigar bar, or a boozey piñata (or two) to entice your guests to get up out of their seats. Or whatever floats your boat! (Tattoos and tarot, anyone?) These playful moments of interaction with your people adds a TON to the memory bank.

You may have noticed a commonality with these ideas, which is set on the intention of being grounded in your moments and experiences. The day really does fly by, so making space to be mindful and interactive goes a long, long way.

At the end of the wedding day (see what I did there?), this day is one big party and celebration. Reimagine the traditional wedding events that have been around since Gammy got married and lean into fresh ideas that spark excitement for you.

Party on, lovers!
